Writing a Personal Essay Part 3

Objective:

In this activity, students will finalize their personal essay and share their work with the class.

Structure:

Part 1:

Now that students have written the primary event of their essay, they can now write the material that will lead into it. This will include both the specific circumstances and events that built up to the event, as well as relevant memories, thoughts, etc. Students should remember that not a lot needs to "happen" - there doesn't always need to be action because reflection is at the heart of writing a memoir.
