The silos
The silos are described throughout the series in great detail, invoking strong imagery. They're massive, underground structures divided into many levels, with the more privileged residing at the top and manual laborers living at the bottom. The imagery of the silos helps establish the sense of confinement and isolation experienced by the inhabitants, as well as the social hierarchy.
The world outside of the silos
The outside world is often depicted as a barren, toxic wasteland, with a brown, lifeless landscape stretching as far as the eye can see. This bleak imagery emphasizes the dire situation that humanity is in, with the world outside the silos being inhospitable and deadly.
The control rooms
In a setting like the Silos, where much of the power is centralized, the control room or similar space is often described with evocative imagery. This includes a vast array of screens showing various parts of the Silo, rows of complex machinery, blinking lights, etc. This imagery reflects the omnipresence and control exerted by the authority within the Silo.
Abandoned silos
Juliette discovers an abandoned Silo, Silo 17, which starkly contrasts the populated and operational Silo 18. The imagery here involves rusted, malfunctioning equipment, silence, darkness, and eerie emptiness. This reinforces the feeling of isolation and the grim reality of what can happen if a Silo fails.
